Hey guys so todays blog post is a guinea pig routine. I always like to see other peoples guinea pig routine and see if there's anything I can add so I thought I will do my own so here to goes :) .
8/8.30am I open the guinea pig cover on their hutch and then I will feed them there nugget pellets from pets at home and then refill their water bottle and then pop it back.
12pm I will normal check to see if they are alright and then give them both a cuddle, if they need there nails cut then I would do it then give them a cuddle just to stop them feeling stressed out. And also I clean them out every week but I spot clean every other day.
4pm I will give them either a herbal forage or a dandelion forage but in the warmer months they would naturally get it from the garden and would spend most of their time grazing on the grass. I would also re-fill their hay racks up.
8pm It would now be Pastels&Cornwallis's tea time they would get their veggies now it can very each day but everyday they do have carrots. ( I will go more in detail on my next blog post)
I would also make sure everything is topped up and safe for the guineas to be put away at night. Then I would put down the green cover on the guinea pigs.
Sorry it short but I couldn't find the picture I took to go with this blog post but it had to go up as it was meant to be up ages ago! Oppsss....
But thank you for taking your time to read my blog posts it means a lot :) .
All things guinea pig
This blog is all about my guinea pigs and also all about guinea pig care to help people to make their guinea pigs lives better than it was.

Guinea pig hutch tour!
Hey everyone it has been a while since I have posted . Sorry.
But I am back now and I thought I would start this year with a hutch tour , I was going to do a hutch and run tour but most of the run is all muddy and horrible so I thought I would save that for the summer.
Here is the hutch that Pastels and Cornwallis live in. So me and my dad built the hutch from scratch and it took about a year including the run. We decided to build one because we don't really like pet shop hutches as when I first got my guinea pigs they had a hutch cant remember where it was from but within a year the roof was coming off so we thought we better build one.
I took this picture last summer. I also forgot to mention that the run in attached to the hutch.
They have a massive green cover which goes down at night to help keep them warm during the colder months but in the warmer months we keep it up to stop them from over heating.
Lets start the hutch tour :)
So this is what the hutch looks like, lets see inside.
So first of all they have their living world water bottle. I bought it from pets at home.
Before you open up the hutch their are 3 locks all together two supporting the main door and one across the bed bit.
They have two willow sticks which they haven't touched but for Christmas they did have two gnawing blocks so I think they prefer them. The willow sticks are from pets at home again :).
The last thing in their hutch of course is there nibble food bowl from Pets at home.
Overview of their main part of the hutch. Photo boomed by Cornwallis.

Next they have a chew tunnel and they have quite literally chewed all of the inside most of the cardboard has gone and they have took a huge bit out of the tunnel at the front. They love this tunnel and it is from Wilko's (hopefully I have spelt it right)
They also have a hay rack. This isn't actually meant to be used as a hay rack but it works so well. So it is meant to be for the bathroom to put bits and bobs in I got it from B&M.

I don't know what happened to the door picture but this is there bed part of the hutch so it just lots of hay to keep them warm and also an orange igloo which they like to snuggle up in together but they do have more room at the front just cant really show you. Also they have a little square door which they get in and out the bed and main part of the hutch (hopefully that makes sense).
Thank you for taking time and reading what's inside their hutch when it starts to get warmer more towards spring/start of summer I will do a more detailed hutch and run tour as there will be more change happening in their run :) hope you like it I tried to be helpfully and tell you where everything came from.

Guinea pig update!
Hello everyone,
Sorry I haven't been active for ages I have been busy with assignments for college. But Im back now and I thought I would give you a update about Pastels&Cornwallis.
So Cornwallis is more confident now with me he will now climb onto my lap when I bring them their food or treats. We still have a problem about me picking him up he will only let you hold him for about 2 minutes not even that! but as I said he will climb over you and he will take food off of me so I really don't know why he wont let me pick him up much.
If anyone knows any good tips for me about Cornwallis then please let me know :).
But other then that he is doing really well and everyday he still does laps of his run and hutch which is really funny to watch.

Pastels is doing really well. He loves having cuddles and if im out in the garden doing jobs he will sit at the front of the hutch and watch me which is really cute as he knows when I finish I will give him a little treat or two!

Why do guinea pigs need company?
Guinea pigs are social and herd animals which means they need to live with other guinea pigs. You should never just have one guinea pig because they will get lonely and bored , even if you give it attention most of the time that still doesn't stop them from being lonely. Good combinations are neutered males and one/more females, two females, neutered brothers only if they have been brought up together. Guinea pigs like to eat, sleep and explore together and if your guinea pig is by itself then its not going to show natural behaviours they would most probably end up depressed and bored.
By giving your guinea pig company they will show their natural behaviours like they would in the wild.
Bad combinations would be 2 aggressive boars and you should never have a rabbit and guinea pig living together because they have different food diets and guinea pigs can end up getting bullied by the rabbits and a group of boars.

Just think about it you wouldn't like it if you were on your own all the time, couldn't talk or interact to anyone.
Just think of your piggy's.

All about my blog and about my guinea pigs
Hey everyone welcome to my blog.
I will be posting about my guinea pigs and about guinea pig care. My upload days will be a Monday and Saturday at 3pm.The reason I started a guinea pig blog is because I wanted to tell people more about guinea pig care and help them make their guinea pigs lifestyle better than it was.
About my guinea pigs.
I have two boy guinea pigs called Pastels&Cornwallis they are both 2 years old. I adopted both of them on the 3rd of October 2013 from Pets at home. They mean so much to me. Cornwallis is a cross between a long haired guinea pig and something else we are not sure what other breed, Pastels is a mix between a crested guinea pig and a tortoiseshell guinea pig.
Now a little bit about myself.
I am a 17 year old girl and I love animals. I would like more animals (guinea pigs) but my parents wont let me :( . I also have a dog he is 11 years old and he is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I study animal care at college and I love it so much. I also love paining canvases and being with the pets.
